911-Clips

CLIPS of segments from 911 call:  Repeated

One word. What is it? Staper? Stapler? Scaper? Escaper? Taper? Possibly.... "Yes, I'm in the middle of a field, "A staper just perched (pushed) some guys over"

Tape tempo slowed as well as pitch for clarity.
Sounds like "I totally ran into 'em"
or "I surely ran into him"

Tape tempo slowed as well as pitch for clarity.
Sounds like "We're not talking to em"

911 Call - Brandon Lawson - Undecipherable Sentence (repeats 3x, each slower) 1st Undecipherable Sentence "A staper (stater, sniper) just perched (pushed) some guys (cars) over" Can you decipher something different?

  1. What were some of Brandon's friends names? To me it sounds like he says, "(someone) screwed some guys over."

    1. to me it sounds like "A staper just pushed some guys over." Staper is short for STAte trooPER. One got taken into the woods. I think he ran out of gas and was standing by his truck. He saw a state trooper pull a car over. when he saw the lights, he hid at first because of his warrant so he was not seen. He witnessed something, got scared, called 911 and asked for cops, not troopers. He may have tried to run and got hurt or got into an altercation but was eventually caught.

    3. yea he says "I think we just screwed some guys over" then the part about "I totally ran into 'em" makes it clear hes not sure what he really walked up on

    4. He said "sniper"! It makes much more sense than state trooper to me.

    7. I've been a musician for over 20 years. I have a very good ear. I'm 98% sure this is what Brandon says: "Yes, I'm in the middle of a field, a staper (state trooper) just cruised (pulled) some guy(s) over, right here goin' towards Abiline on both sides... my truck ran out of gas, there's one car here, got chased (up into) the woods... please hurry... (went up) talkin' to him... Uh, I totally ran into him... (sta)per shot the first guy...No, I need the cops." (three gunshots that are muffled). Brandon is in a state of shock, and disbelief, as if he can't believe what just happened. Because he's being chased, he gets to the point right away: 1) Where he is, 2) What he just saw in sequence. He came up on a state Trooper that had pulled some guys over. He saw an officer he thought could help him... until he sees the Trooper execute the "first guy." He walked right into the crime scene where someone was shot. The "first guy" is the first guy Brandon sees in the car, likely the passenger if he's walking on the side of the road. When he got close enough, he must have seen the crime in progress. The chase begins. Likely another Trooper chases him down. The call is edited where Brandon says, "Staper shot the first guy." They tried to edit "Staper." Brandon is likely buried on private land, owned by someone who is close to the State Troopers or is close to/related to Deputy Chief Neil.

    8. Yes, my thoughts exactly. In that area of West Texas ... the folks are not welcoming to outsiders. I believe the land owners are all connected to the sheriff department. In other words .... small town bad cops. So sad.

    11. I believe that, in regards to the "Staper" word, Brandon is saying "State Street" as in his location on Highway 277. Highway 277 is called "State Street" just south of Bronte and as it goes into Bronte. It returns to being Highway 277 north of Bronte. When he then says (as many believe) "on the road going to Abilene on 'both' sides", I think he is saying "on Bronte side" as in he's on Hwy 277, south of Abilene by Bronte.
In regards to the alleged gunshots heard at the end, he was by one of the bridges of Highway 277 and that sound is a vehicle going over the bridge. Brandon's truck was found just south of the Colorado River. It is very possible that the sound on the tape is the truck of the guy that called 911 in regards to Brandon's vehicle being parked haphazardly on the road. From what I understand, the two 911 calls were in quick succession to one another. Brandon was on the phone with 911 when the Trucker passed his vehicle and proceeded to call 911 himself.

  2. To me it sounds like he is saying, "A truck was just pushing guys over..." That bit of Texas twang is responsible for crick/creek, etc., so trek/truck is not a stretch when emotionally stressed.

  4. Maybe he was so confused and upset his words ran together and it says What I hear is: Yes, I'm in the middle of the filed. A "staper" (as in state trooper run together because he is trying to get it out fast and get help and he tripped over his words?) just cruised/screwed some guys over right here on the road going to Abilene on both sides. (why both sides? that seems significant to me) My truck ran out of gas. There's one car here a guy chased me through the woods. Please hurry! and when I talked to him I totally ran into him. (garbled) shot the first guy. (operator asks if ambulance is needed) he says yes and corrects himself immediately and says no I need the cops.(operator asks if anyone is hurt) and it sounds like gun shots in the background.

  5. It sounds to me now that he was driving down the road, in fact we're reaching gods network (or something that sounds like gods keywork) and they got driven into the field, ran out of gas and now they're running. Someone seems to be chasing them into the field. Sounds as tho someone was w him maybe or he's referring to "them" as he and the chaser. This is killing me trying to figure this out!

  6. Ok so I may be totally off here....but could he be using the trooper as a reference point so they would know where he was? Maybe that had previously happened and he needed a landmark since he wasn't near one. Could he have said "there's one boar here and got chased thru the woods?" He may have been talking about feral hogs and he could have been on the phone talking when he ran into them. He could also be referencing the boars or hogs as "guys" that's why they may have been on both sides of the road. And the sound of the other person we think we hear, could be a hog. Just a thought.

    2. The other person plainly says.. get ready to defend yourself & hogs don't talk so that's definitely not logical.

  11. Sounds like "Guy was just freaking out (then sounds like "and over")... Not sure but if he was panicking, the draw and speed of his voice sounds like something different. Also, I know it's been about a year (I'll email my questions and recommendations, but) has anyone checked in with Verizon to see if his phone was being reused? Or Can Verizon give the IMEI to Ladessa and she cross check it over ESN Websites or ask Verizon to see if the Unit is in use (even with another sim card, if its active, Verizon has it on record)? If there's a chance the phone was stolen from him, people can be traced that way. Also, (sadly I wished that the phones shipped with lookout,) but, what I wonder is, the last ping to the tower, (if I read this right), said that he was atleast 3 miles away from said tower. Why didn't a search team (again, this might have happened), search immediately within a 5-10 mile radius? A mile takes 20 minutes to walk... Plenty of time to find someone within that range. Unless Brandon got into another vehicle and things went wrong, (god forbid). Finally, (i'm sure this was done already), but my suspicion is, if he hit somebody, (theory 1: if he hit someone without a motor vehicle, it could have been a setup, or someone unlucky that day) or (theory 2: someone took off with Brandon and possibly offered to help him get gas for his truck and things went south) or (theory 3: there was an altercation or a vehicle was damaged somehow...) so, did anyone check cars that may have visited a public location off of the road Brandon was on (with camera's) shortly after the 911 call? (1-5 hour range). Did anyone check the mechanics in the area if there was any repaired cars recently? or hospitals for people admitted that night with injuries related to a road accident? or gas stations that may have spotted Brandon or seen him on Camera? Just Ideas that I haven't seen mentioned, (I havent combed the entire website, but i'm hoping and praying he returns, or the family gets the information they need.) My prayers, love, hope, and heart goes out to everyone involved... I may not have known him, but being where I used to live, (San Angelo, TX), he lived close enough that he was cared about, even by a stranger like me.

    1. I don't believe he actually hit anyone as no damage to his vehicle. When he says "I ran into him." Could be "him" or "them" and could be figuratively speaking. What I do believe, as for my theory, is that I've no doubt someone else is with him as I hear another voice saying "yeah" to ambulance. I also believe whatever happened he was not too far away from where truck left. I believe he walked towards town where gas was hoping to run into his brother, as opposed to waiting in truck...maybe accepted ride by someone he knows or met before and he himself called 9-1-1 asking for a cop....so the thoughts he wanted to hide from cops does not fit with what we know is factual, and that is HE called and asked for a cop. Whatever his brother and girlfriend heard about him hiding from cops is, in my opinion, a total "assumption and didn't understand nor hear him clearly. . I believe while waiting, or walking towards brother, he got a ride and something went bad. He jumped from vehicle and took off into a field, maybe someone else did too...he called 911 while holding someone down that he hurt in defense...and that's who says, "yeah" to ambulance...while he says no, he wants a cop. Maybe third person came upon and hurt Brandon while pinned one and driver took off. That is best possible I can think. As for searching, a large area checked after missing and no other organized searches since:( from our understanding, police said no...too treacherous. I say get drones in a ten mile radius all places a person may have difficulty doing.

It would make much more sense that some "sniper just chased me into the woods - shot the first guy - there is no talking to him"....and precisely why he would say send the COPS and Please hurry! If he at any other point claimed to be bleeding - would also fit SNIPER theory rather than "STATER"...thoughts? Please reply to my correct email mellcayce@gmail.com thx

"-this guy, were just purchase gas-uh"
"Were out here towards/{tore} gaslynn on both side"
/he's saying the word gasoline and about it being on both sides. To me, he's already started to walk/push the car out of the way. And he is telling the operator that on either side of him There is a source of gasoline.
"because my truck ran out of gas, there's one quart (or car) here. gotta check em'...
    "through the woods PRETTY" (WHAT?)
"There's one guys talking to hyum-"
(says this to the operator then moves the phone away from his mouth)
"I told'em we ran into him"

"such a harsh guy" or "gotcha parts guy"
    Hangs up/
he probably thought "shit, i got a cop coming, let me fix this situation, im in a spot i don't want to be in."

I accidentally ran into them, they shot the first guy. Yeah, no I need the cops. In the background when the 911 operator ask is anyone hurt? There is a sound, it's sounds very similiar to that of a car going over the top of a bridge if you were standing underneath it. All of this seems so fishy.......especially being from that area. So sad, I am praying for.closure on this. I am praying that God's mighty hand moves and that those who may have been or were involved in what took place to this young man be revealed.

  28. After listening to the Brandon Lawson clip over and over again with headphones, this is what I think he could possibly be saying.

And when I say criminal, I'm referring to the people the State Troopers pulled over. Whether or not they are truly criminals is to be known. I'll just call them criminals to make this easier to understand.

"Yes, I'm in the middle of the field, *state troopers* pulled some guys over.. Right here, goin'towards Abilene, on both sides (Meaning State trooper cars parked on both sides of the road?).. My truck ran out of gas... There's one car here (criminals car).
*He's (State Trooper) chasin' a guy (criminal) into the woods.*
    Please hurry.
*There's one guy (Trooper) talking to em (criminal)*
*I totally ran into em*(walked upon the scene after he ran out of gas and started walking?)
*They (Trooper) shot the first guy*(criminal)

What I think could have happened was Brandon ran out of gas and started walking. He then came upon 2 State Trooper cars, one parked on each side of the road, and they had pulled over another (unknown) car with multiple occupants. The direction the cars are facing is towards the town Abilene.
He sees one State Trooper chasing one of the criminals into the woods. Maybe thr person they pulled over decided to run from the Troopers?.. Brandon sees the other State Trooper talking to the other criminal that was in the car they pulled over.
Brandon then says he had ran into em, as if he's stating he just came upon the situation after walking because he ran out of gas.
Then Brandon says the Trooper shot the 1st criminal. (shot the crininal who's getting chased into the woods or shot the criminal the other state trooper was talking to).
Now beyond that, you guys can come up with your own assumptions. Did the State Troopers mess up and shoot an innocent person they pulled over, Brandon witnessed it and the Troopers had to kill Brandon as well to cover it up? I dont know. I would hope that's not the case as I greatly respect our law enforcement and appreciate all they do. Again, this is just a possibility.

Maybe I'm way off here but let me know what ya guys think.

    1. Scotty, This is exactly what I came up with after listening to the call over and over with headphones as well. I think this makes the most sense and I have seen a ton of possibilities. This is the reason that the family didn't find out about the 911 call. This is the reason there is no trace of his clothing, wallet or cell phone. This is the reason the Sherriff's wife has published misleading information in the local paper. The other thing I differ with you on is I think he might of said, "Right here, goin' towards Abilene, on Bronte side...but then I'm not certain of the pronunciation of Bronte ....Two people with the exact rendition cant be wrong. :)

    3. This is my thought to. Also the fact that the sheriff owns the land by where he disappeared. And didn't let the family search there just claimed his deputies searched it. The same one who's wife wrote such crazy things about him.

  31. Is it possible that right after he says "I am in a field" he gives a description of his location? It seems odd that he would call 911 and not give his location. Perhaps since we are not making sense we are imagining him saying something about a trooper but maybe he is describing his location. I can't actually understand him. If he was 10 minutes up the road then maybe a look around at the area might give one an idea as to what his description might actually be. In other words, if we change the context of what he is saying then maybe it is a description of his location? Maybe someone did give him a ride and ten minutes away might be 10 miles? Please let me know what you think?

  32. When he says "they got the first guy..." He is still talking as the dispatcher asks " do you need an ambulance?" It sounds like he says "they got the first guy.. And I got (indescernable)" I would be curious to see if you could See what he says if you slow it down enough.
Also as I hear it, he says...
Yeah I'm in the middle of a field. This Trooper Pulled some guys over right here going towards Albiline. (We're) on both sides (of the road). My truck ran out of gas. There's one cop here. (I) got chased into the woods, please hurry. (There's) one guy talking to him. Ahh I totally ran into them. They got the first guy, and I got...(indiscernible) . Yea, NO I need the cops.

  34. You guys keep saying that he's saying "A trooper just pulled(or pushed) some guys over." But if that was the case then this "trooper" would have given some kind of report. So either you're all wrong or this part has not been either investigated or reported.

  35. You guys keep saying that he's saying "A trooper just pulled(or pushed) some guys over. But if that was the case, then we'd obviously have that officer's report on what happened that night. So either you're all wrong or this aspect has yet to be investigated.

  36. Could be saying: "state trooper", "state patrol car", or "state patrol". I don't get the whole "goin' towards Abilene on both sides". Could he mean there are people on both sides of the road looking for him and he's running/hiding from them?

  37. This is what im hearing. I have used Audacity to help with the audio. Im a home music Producer that can manipulate sound pretty good. Perhaps ask a music producer to help with clearing up the sound a bit better. There are plenty of EDM producers on Youtube you could ask one that comes to mind is "SeamlessR" he does music tutorials and would probably help if messaged. If not then get in touch with a sound engineer they could help emensley. Best wishes.

    Operator:911 Emergency

  40. Is State Po (state police) a saying down there? I've heard people use high po (highway patrol) or state po (state police). That kinda sounds like what he could be saying.

  41. It almost sounds like "camper" to me and not trooper. Maybe he ran into a drifter as he was walking to get gas and it was an opportunistic /robbery/murder and the assailant was good at hiding the body.

  42. To me it sounds more like "camper" and not trooper. Maybe he ran into a drifter as he was walking to get gas and the 'camper' tried to rob him and it went sideways.

  43. i think he said a trooper/stater just pulled some guys over

  44. Could he have said "scraper"?. A scraper is a machine for moving earth over short distances. The scraper is the dominant tool in highway construction. Just a thought...

  45. This is what I hear and my theory.

    E: 911 Emergency?

B: Yes I'm in the middle of a field, I stopped n' some guys just pulled over

We're out here going towards Abilene on both sides My truck ran out of gas. That one guy here, who/he chased me into the woods. Please hurry.

E: Ok, now run that by me again

B: I tried talking to him, I just ran into him... no

E: No? Ahh, you ran into him, ok

    B: ...he's the first guy

    E: You need an ambulance?

    B: Ye...No I need the cops

    E: OK... Is anybody hurt?

    HELLO... HE-LLO... HELLO

So, I don't think he says state trooper. I think that a guy or two guys stopped beside him. Going the same direction as the truck was facing broke down (going towards Abilene on both sides). I think Brandon tried talking to them, probably about his truck being out of gas (I just ran into him) There was some kind of altercation, perhaps an attempted robbery. I think Brandon was hit on the head during this and that's why his speech is somewhat slurred. I think he was chased into the woods by one or more. It's possible being that frightened he could care less about an ambulance and could only think cops. Now. As for "he's the first guy" this could be mid thought/sentence as in "he's the first guy I ran into stranded out here. With all that adrenaline I could see how someone can't relay verbally what's flying through their head.

This makes the most logical sense to me.

  46. I agree that this version of the line "I'm in a field, I stopped and some guys just pulled over" seems easier to decipher from the incoherent audio than "State Trooper". It also seems like the most plausible as the confusing situation continues.

Brandon has argued with his GF - jumps into the truck close to midnight and storms off for a drive, by all accounts en-route to his father's house. Perhaps forgetting he was low on gas he finds himself stuck on the side of the highway. He calls his Bro at 12:38 to ask for go wait by his truck (while he gets gas?). At

Going by the initial sentence we assume Brandon was stood around by the car and started walking towards Alberline. He has his keys, phone &wallet, also no sign of struggle or crash around the truck. (Although does anyone know if there were skid marks on the road leading g up to the truck? ). It sounds like maybe a car passed him walking up the road and parked opposite his truck. Was he approached by these people either under the guise of help or attempted robbery?

The line "I got the first one" could imply Brandon managed to escape a situation by punching one of the guys (possibly out cold as he is described ais a stocky guy) and then chased by the other 1+ people who hear him in the phone to 911 (possiblystopoedgid to make call) I think I can hear heavy breathing just after he says "Ahhh I ran into them" - could he mean literally he ran back into them right then? There is a difference in Bramdin's voice as heats this and there appears to be other people present in the background where thee wasn't at the start of the call.

This 911 call is certainly sinister, I definitely hear some higher pitched male voice, that sounds younger or at least the same age as Brandon taunt "Yea!" after the 911 assistant asks if he requires an ambulance. He seems to deliver this with a sniggering torment in his voice which I find terrifying.

  47. I work with audio professionally and have an excellent ear. Here is what Brandon is saying: "Yes, I'm in the middle of a field, a staper (state trooper) just threw some guy(s) over it, right here goin towards Abiline on both sides... my truck ran out of gas, there's one car here, got chased through the woods... please hurry... there's no talkin to him... I totally ran into him... staper shot the first guy... (three gunshots)." Brandon uses Texas slang, but once you familiarize yourself with it, you can hear what he's saying. Also, the call is EDITED. After he mentions the field, he likely said he was (direction) of the river or the bridge with "Abiline on both sides." We know it's edited because Brandon does not tell us what the "it" is. The "it" is the scene of the original crime that Brandon came upon while walking towards the gas stations. Odds are, Brandon was also dumped into the river as well, or killed on private land owned by someone connected to the sheriff's dept. Chances are the first or 2nd "staper" to pull up to the scene is the killer.

    1. Locals have explained that if he was describing where he was in route 277, it would make sense he said "towards Abiline on Bronte side" as he was close to that town, which is pronounced Bront.

  48. I’m not 100% on the first sentence that everyone perceives as, “Middle of the field”, so I will start with what follows:

...In fact, we're just pushing guys over

Their out here goin’ towards Abilene on both sides

My truck ran out of gas

There's one car here, the guy chased it, to the woods

    Please hurry

And we're not talkin' to 'em (him)

That’s-how we ran into ‘em (That’s-how we got into ‘em) (That’s-when we got into ‘em)

    Got the first guy

    <inaudible, blended with dispatcher’s voice)

    No, I need the cops

  52. Scaper?
I think that isn't one word!
    E: 9-1-1 Emergency?
B: Yes, I'm in the middle of the field. This guy here is just purchasing gun(s) over.
or "This guy here just purchased gun(s) over."
thiS GUY HERE = S+GUY+HERE sounds like Staper? Stapler? Scaper? Escaper? Taper?
or ...S GUY THERE = S+GUY+THERE sounds like Staper? Stapler? Scaper? Escaper? Taper?
or maybe Scaper = kipper, skipper
    or maybe Scaper = name/nickname/surname
guys/cars over? sounds like gas over or GUN(S) over.
"just perched (pushed) some guys (cars) over" sounds like "just purchased gun(s) over"

"we're not talking to em" sounds like "I/we won't talk with him"

An unsuccessful deal with a guns dealer ?????
Brandon was an accidental witness or client ?????
Maybe the dealer came to Brandon when he got stuck on the road ????

    questions:
    1. Where was Brandon at the night 7 Aug?
    2. Did he want to withdraw his money from bank account?
    3. If yes, so what he wanted to buy?
    4. Was he talking to a neighbor on the phone?
    5. Did he travel alone?
    6. Did he contact with someone at the last week?
    7. If yes, Was he missing too?

  54. When his brother arrived to help him get gas a police car was already there. I don't know if it was local or state. The reason given for its being there was that someone had called 911 to report an empty car obstructing the road. I find it hard to believe the 911 dispatcher would send an officer to go check on an empty car without mentioning Brandons call. Entirely likely the officer chose not to disclose the call or the call never happened.
